Opening Hours & Holidays

The museum is open from 9:00 to 17:00, with last admission at 16:30. It is closed on Tuesdays (or the following weekday if Tuesday is a national holiday) and during the New Year holidays (December 29 - January 3).

Fees & Estimated Time

The admission fee is 600 yen for adults and 300 yen for elementary, junior high, and high school students. A discount is available for groups of 20 or more.

The 'Introduction Theater,' screened on seven large screens including the floor, presents a realistic video journey from the pre-disaster state of the region to the disaster's occurrence and reconstruction efforts. Visitors can also learn deeply about the disaster's memory through actual materials and testimonial videos provided by the victims.

Storytellers give talks four times a day inside the museum. This is a valuable opportunity to hear firsthand about the situation and lessons learned at the time, so it is recommended to check the schedule on the official website in advance and participate.
As of August 2025, the museum has welcomed over 400,000 visitors, and the permanent exhibition is regularly updated. Futaba Town, whose population dropped from about 7,100 before the earthquake to about 170 as of October 2024, is also undergoing regional revitalization with projects such as the construction of a supermarket. Approximately a 30-minute walk from Futaba Station on the JR Joban Line. It is about a 2-hour drive from the Joban Futaba IC on the Joban Expressway.
